Relax and rejuvenate with a deep tissue massage.
A deep tissue massage is a type of therapeutic massage that focuses on the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue within the body. During deep tissue massages, we use slow, firm pressure, and targeted techniques to release chronic muscle tension, knots, and areas of stiffness.

At Inis Spa, we often recommend deep tissue massage for these conditions:
- Chronic muscle pain or tightness
- Neck, shoulder, and lower back pain
- Limited mobility or stiffness
- Sports injuries or overuse injuries
- Repetitive strain injuries
Unlike relaxation massages, which use lighter pressure, deep tissue massages work slowly and deliberately while targeting specific problem areas. Your massage therapist may apply pressure with their fingers, knuckles, elbows, or forearms, while aiming to break up scar tissue and improve blood flow. While some discomfort is normal during the massage, it will not be painful. Your massage therapist will communicate with you and adjust the pressure as needed.
Once you leave our spa in the Surf City, North Carolina area following your deep tissue massage, you may experience some mild soreness for a day or two. You may also notice that you have an increased range of motion and reduced muscle tension and pain. Make sure you drink plenty of water afterward and stretch to reduce soreness.
We are excited to help you experience the relaxation and rejuvenation benefits of deep tissue massage. To learn more about this type of massage or to schedule your next massage appointment, reach out to us today.
